G’day Folks
Well what a great time we all had at the first Wyndham Country Music Festival held in August in conjunction with the Wyndham Races. Laura Downing, Matt Manning, Ricky Shipp, Dan Manning and I all flew off via Darwin and Kununurra to Wyndham WA. We are all looking forward to getting back there next year but a BIG thanks to our sponsors and friends - Wyndham Caravan Park, Kingscrown Electrical, Wyndham Crocodile Farm and Mr Woodsy. We had great weather and not too hot - only about 35 degrees!!
Since Wyndham I have enjoyed several performances. The Cedar Guitar Festival is a long standing and popular festival that is next year celebrating its 30th year. I appeared as a guest artist for the VIEW club in Casino the following week and had a wonderful day enjoying the hospitality and entertainment on hand.
Next, it was an honour to be invited to perform the National Anthem at the flag raising ceremony and opening of the Nanango Country Music Festival 2009. If you haven’t been yet get there next year cause it’s a beauty of a weekend. I caught up with Ernie and Debbie Constance there and collared a copy of Ernie’s brand new album Milestones. It’s a ripper I reckon and is already one of my travelling mates.
Mildura was next down the line and as usual I had a great festival there. It is wonderful to just show up to everything being so well organised and ready to go. It’s also great to catch up with lots of other independent artists.
Tamworth 2010 is almost here and I am very pleased to be again holding
a show this year at the Frog and Toad. Our very special guest this year will
be Golden Guitar winner - Rex Dallas and along with Matt Manning, Dan
Manning and Sheree Innes we will be featuring ‘The Kids of Aussie Country’.
It promises to be a great day and we have some wonderful young talent lined
up to entertain you. I feel it is so important to encourage the children to
sing about Australia and our way of life and this is my way of showcasing
some great little upcoming artists. We would love to see you all there to
show your support and entry for children is free so please feel welcome to
bring them along. Well that’s about it folks.
Thanks so much to all the Radio presenters for their ongoing support and
also to all the people who offer friendship and encouragement along the
road. Also don’t forget to have a look at the new website at
www.anitaree.com.au
Hoping to catch up with everyone somewhere along the way
Happy 2010
Anita
The year 2009 is flying by with lots of singing, interviews and work keeping me busy. Katherine Country Music Muster has been kind to me with ‘Dogs Like Fishing Too’ winning the Comedy/ Novelty Songwriter Award at the recent festival. This is the second single from ‘Story Songs’ with the third to be released in August. May has been a busy month with performances at Caboolture Urban Country Music Festival, Wagga Wagga Country Music Festival, Cessnock Country Music Festival and Bundy Roundup. It was my first time at Cessnock and Bundaberg and they were both a very welcome addition to the year. Well organised and presented with a wealth of talent and something for everyone. It was great to spend a relaxing week off with Dan in Cessnock with Greg and Yvonne Bain and their family. Thanks heaps we had a great stay. Also thanks to Barry and Polly for the ongoing open house and support. I am off to Mildura again this September for the excellent annual festival and then back to Qld for some shows around the Sunshine Coast. There is lots of things in the pipeline for the rest of the year the next being ‘Hats Off” Festival in July. Thanks for all the wonderful support. It’s been great to catch up with familiar faces as well as meet some new friends on the road this year. Look forward to seeing you all next time.
Keep warm and stay safe.
With Best Wishes

With winter coming on it seems that time has flown by. Things have been hectic, lots of travelling, working and singing. My “Live by Request” DVD has proved to be great fun and the feedback has been very positive. During all the time away I’ve been writing some new ideas and working on some songs I had started earlier. I’ve been having some fun with that.
West Moreton Country Music Club in Ipswich was my kind hosts in April. It was a most enjoyable evening and great to catch up with Harry and Maree and some other friends I hadn’t seen for awhile. The following day it was off to beautiful Bribie Island for Pumicestone Country Music Club’s show. As usual I took the showers with me so there was no going to the beach this time!
This year I was pleased to perform at the Broxburn Bash near Pittsworth for the first time. We had a beaut day with Jeff Brown, Ricky Shipp, Bob Easter, Dan Manning and Clinton Ireland all performing to an appreciative audience. I was surprised to see a Great Camp oven set up as well as heaps of entertainment for kids of all sizes.
Thanks to all at and around Wagga Wagga Country Music Festival for a great Friday and Saturday show at the Commercial Club on May 14 and 15. It was a flying visit to a brisk Wagga Wagga. Great to catch up with everyone there and as always I enjoyed looking at the markets and the Murrumbidgee.
That’s about it for me for now. Looking forward to the next time we meet
Best wishes
